Passing Through Theatre

Passing Through Theatre is an indie theatre company dedicated to creating original new works that explore the intricacies of human connection, share authentic stories that are socially and politically relevant to our generation, and challenge traditional forms of theatre. Our dynamic and experienced team aims to seek out and discover unique ways of sharing stories of diverse communities, connect with new audiences of all ages, and experiment with interactive/immersive theatre experiences.

Shanice Bowrin is bilingual actor born in Montreal, Quebec. She has studied improv
fundamentals at Theatre Staircase, and trained with LB Acting Studios, Kim Hurdon Casting and
RAW Actor’s Studio in Toronto. Credits include “Best in Venue” award winning play, The
Butler: A Superhero Detective Story (The Hamilton Fringe), and sold-out performances of
Mamma Mia (Theatre Ancaster). Shanice is featured in the positively reviewed web series Sofa
Queens on YouTube and has worked as a voice actor with Microsoft Office, Welch’s and Netflix
specializing in narration, animation and e-learning.

Rebekka Gondosch is a theatre maker and arts educator based in Hamilton. They are a graduate
of Trinity College Dublin’s M.Phil. in Theatre and Performance program, have a B.A. in
Dramatic Arts and English Language and Literature from Brock University, and a B.Ed. from
Redeemer University. Her work is rooted in devised theatre, Irish theatre, site-specific theatre,
and queer performance. They are a member of Light Echo Theatre and Passing Through Theatre.
They have had the honour of teaching amazing high school students for over five years. You can

Lily Sutherland is a writer, director, performer, and producer with over eight years of experience
creating and presenting original multi-disciplinary works. She holds an Honours Bachelor of
Arts degree with specialization in Theatre (Acting Profile) from The University of Ottawa, has
trained in Clown and Le Jeu with world-renowned clown master at École Philippe Gaulier (Paris,
FR) and currently works as Executive Producer at Fall for Dance North (Toronto, CA).

Chris Thornborrow’s music has been described as “urgent, masterful” (NOW Magazine), and “powerfully virtuosic” (Barcza Blog). Recognition for his work includes the Karen Kieser Prize in Canadian Music, multiple SOCAN awards, and nominations for two Dora Awards and the Louis Applebaum Composers Award. His commissions include pieces for Array Ensemble, Bicycle Opera Project, Esprit Orchestra, and Tapestry Opera. He has scored over a dozen films, including Sleeping Giant, which premiered at the Cannes Festival Semain de la Critique. Through the Canadian Opera Company, Chris has co-composed over 60 operas with children and communities throughout Toronto. Chris’s favourite meal is breakfast.
