Be a part of this innovative summer camp taking place on the diamond where campers will develop baseball skills in the morning before integrating them into theatrical explorations in the afternoons.
Let’s Play Ballis designed and facilitated by renowned actor and elite baseball coach Jordan Pettle and Theatre Direct Artistic Director and High Park Little League Coach Lisa Marie DiLiberto along with playwright, TV showrunner and baseball enthusiast Adam Pettle. All levels of experience in both baseball and theatre are welcome.
Our theatrical repertoire will include stage combat, playwriting and scene studies (all about baseball…).
Experienced theatre kids will have the opportunity to develop solo performance moments while kids trying out acting for the first time can tame their butterflies in group scene work and see where it goes…
Baseball-wise, beginning players will focus on skills development in a supportive environment, while elite players will be challenged to take their game to the next level with our high level coaches.
Bursaries are available upon request.

Jordan Pettle has been a professional theatre actor, director and teacher for almost 30 years. After graduating from the National Theatre School in 1994, he has worked extensively, in both contemporary and classical work, on stages across the country. He has appeared in over 25 productions for Soulpepper Theatre and spent 4 seasons at the Stratford Festival. In Toronto he has worked for Canadian Stage, Coal Mine, Tarragon Theatre, Studio 180, Outside the March, Mirvish Productions, Factory Theatre, Theatre Passe Muraille, Young People’s Theatre, among others. He has appeared in many television/film productions (Murdoch Mysteries, Suits, Kim’s Convenience, Titans, American Woman, etc.).
Over the past 15 years he has taught and directed at George Brown Theatre School, Soulpepper, Wexford Collegiate for the Performing Arts, Randolph Academy, Toronto Metropolitan University, among others. He was a series regular on the CBC radio drama Afghanada (ACTRA voice nomination). He recently appeared in the Canadian Stage production of The Lehman Trilogy. Upcoming: The Lehman Trilogy (Manitoba Theatre Centre).
Jordan played rep baseball in Leaside for many years and has coached in the Toronto Playgrounds Baseball Association for 9 years. He is a NCA certified coach and has coached tee-ball, house league, select and rep. Last season he was a coach on his son’s TP 11U A team that won the city championship and made it to the semis in the provincials. He is currently on the coaching staff of the Toronto Playgrounds 12U AA rep team. He is Red Cross certified in Standard First Aid and CPR.
Jordan lives in the west end of Toronto, with his wife Shannon and their two kids, Sammy and Avi.
Adam Pettle was born in Toronto where his first word was “ball”. From a young age, strongly encouraged to use his left-hand, Adam complied and became a southpaw pitcher, spending the next 18 years playing All-star baseball in Leaside (Pee-wee Provincial Champions ‘86) and dreaming of one day hurling in Yankee Stadium. But, a torn rotator cuff (see: no little league pitch count in the 80’s) and a fastball that topped out at 80 mph forced him to pivot to a life in the arts.
He studied Theatre at Dalhousie University before moving on to the National Theatre School of Canada where he would study Playwrighting. On graduating from NTS Adam secured a playwright-in-residence post at the Canadian Stage Company where he would spend the next several years writing plays, among them: “Therac 25” (Factory Theatre) “Zadie’s Shoes” (Factory, Mirvish) “Sunday Father” (Can Stage/Royal Exchange Manchester) as well as a one-act inspired by the death of Matty Baranovsky for Theatre Direct – called “Misha”. His plays went on to see numerous productions across North America and the UK.
Adam then moved into writing radio drama, co-creating “Afghanada” (CBC) which he wrote over 100 episodes on over its 7 seasons. He then turned to television. Working as a “staff writer” on several Canadian productions including: (“Rookie Blue”, “Combat Hospital” “King”) Before becoming a Showrunner himself and helping to helm series like: “Saving Hope” (Bell Media/NBC) “Burden of Truth” (CBC/CW) “The Detail” (Bell) “Nurses” (CORUS/NBC).
But would still give it all up to pitch one scoreless inning in Yankee Stadium.
He lives in Toronto with his wife Trish Fagan and two amazing kids, Alice (13) and Lev (10).
