What was that bleep, click, hum? VIRTUAL SPRING BREAK CAMP
Calling creative types ages six to twelve ready to dive years into the future with us at our upcoming Virtual Spring Break Camp! Over the course of the week, children will embark on a futuristic adventure as they write, design and perform in their own virtual play, What was that bleep, click, hum?as inaugural members of Theatre Direct’s Warehouse Theatre Troupe.
As part of this program, campers will be treated to a series of brand-new virtual performances created for young audiences as part of our Forward March Festival, where they’ll be on the bill to present their show at the end of the week.
This opportunity is being offered for free to all selected participants. The application process opens to the general public Thursday March 11, 2021. Applicants will be asked to complete an application including uploading a short audio recording (i.e., two to three minutes) of the applicant explaining why they want to participate in the Virtual Spring Break Camp and the Warehouse Troupe. Selected applicants will be contacted by Thursday March 25, 2021.
To aid campers with their audio recording we are asking them to answer “Why do you wish to do the Virtual Spring Break Camp?” AND ONE of the following questions:
What do you imagine transportation will look like in the future?
If you could talk to trees what might they say?
If you could invent a new subject at school what would it be?
If you could go back in time, where and when would you go? Why?
Are you more a square, a circle, or a triangle? Why?
The Virtual Spring Break Camp is a full-day camp from 10 am to 3 pm with a one-hour lunch break at 12 pm. In the morning, children will work on the creation of their own virtual show. In the afternoon, they will watch a digital theatre for young audiences show by professional artists commissioned as part of the Spark the Future! Festival running in tandem with the camp (one show per day). At the close of the camp day participants will practice yoga with a wonderful children’s yoga instructor.
